JUN 6, 2011 - Chilean Volcano Erupts is the latest manifestation of a centuries-old astrological observation that eclipses, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes can follow one on the heels of the other. The current eruption of the Puyehue volcano in southern Chile began on Saturday, June 4 - three days after the June 1 solar eclipse, and a day before the 5.4 magnitude quake in nearby Maule, Chile. No surprises there: see my 2011 World Forecast Highlights (published last year) for a description before the fact of what was coming and where - including an advance mention of Chile as one of the target zones for "severe seismic activity (including volcanic eruptions)" during the May 24-June 10 solar eclipse shock window. As noted some years ago in an article I wrote for the October-November 2007 for The Mountain Astrologer:
The Greek historian Thucydides (5th Century BCE) wrote about "an eclipse of the Sun at the time of a new moon, and in the early part of the same month an earthquake." In the 2nd Century CE his countryman Phlegon reported that "in the fourth year of the 202nd Olympiad, there was an eclipse of the Sun . . . and a great earthquake that broke out in Bithynia destroyed the greatest part of Nicaea." (The fourth year of the 202nd Olympia corresponds to 33 CE, the year Jesus of Nazareth was crucified in Jerusalem. Early Church scholars debated whether this eclipse timed the crucifixion.)
Thousands of years after astrologers began noting the connection between eclipses and earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, skeptics are still scoffing. But the earth still shakes in the wake of eclipses . . .
