JAN 17, 2011 - Spacequakes Rumble Near Earth is a perfect counterpoint to the 13th sign silliness that had the media all abuzz this past week. On the one hand, we have an ignorant astronomer talking about something he obviously doesn't understand - which is pretty well par for the course, anytime an astronomer talks about astrology - and on the other hand, we have science discovering new evidence that Earth is subject to and part of the cosmic environment (which is the very essence of astrology). How could astronomer Parke Kunkle be so ignorant as to criticize astrology for not recognizing the discrepancy between signs and constellations, when in fact it was astrologers who discovered the difference a couple thousand years ago, and created the system of signs used in western astrology ever since - thereby rendering the discrepancy irrlevant? The answer, quite simply, is that astronomers don't care about the truth when it comes to astrology. They only care about propagandizing against it - otherwise they'd make the effort to understand it before making ignorant critiques. (See an article I published a dozen years ago for details.) The irony is that in the same week this astronomer bozo makes a fool of himself (without even realizing it), NASA discovers that quakes in Earth's magnetic field - with an energy rivaling "that of a magnitude 5 or 6 earthquake" - trace back to solar wind plasma trapped in Earth's magnetic tail . . . a cosmic connection that gives a new twist to the old Hermetic Maxim, "As above, so below." And so, we've got the bozo scientist railing against astrology without knowing anything about it, and the real scientists making astrological claims without even knowing they're doing it. You can't make this stuff up.
