MAR 23, 2009 - Neave Planetarium is an elegantly simple online planetarium, and you can't have too many of those. (Thanks, Rog, for bringing this one to my attention!) Set the date and location of your choice, and there's the whole sky on your computer display, ready to explore full screen or in a window of your choosing. (The Sun, Moon, planets and stars down to the fifth magnitude are shown, for about 1500 points in all.) For best results, be sure your browser is Javascript-enabled, and that you're running the latest version of Adobe's Flash program - if you have a reasonably decent computer and you keep it updated, you're probably all set. I find Neave Planetarium easy and intuitive, but there's a handy help page if you like. That's where you'll find that Paul Neaves, who coded this delightful planetarium, has a favorite star. Seriously, go look!
