FEB 23, 2009 - Extreme Gamma-ray Burst introduces the latest Master Blaster out in space, the most powerful yet recorded; which is to say, the biggest explosion to happen anywhere in the universe in your lifetime or mine. Thank your lucky stars it was very far away, or we wouldn't be here today. This one, designated GRB 080916C, took place at 23:13 UT on September 15, 2008 and emanated from the constellation Carina. I'm totally awestruck by these great celestial cataclysms, and have pondered about their astrological meaning for years now. (Yeah, I know, there's a difference between magnetars and GRBs - but they're both humongous Gamma-ray blasters!) Look back to mid-September last year, and think about it.
