OCT 8, 2007 - The Masque of Mandragora comes to mind because I've been enjoying the BBC's Torchwood series (a Dr. Who spinoff) so much lately. Back into the 1980s - okay, I came late to the party - I got hooked on the Dr. Who franchise, a weakness my family forgives me out of the goodness of their hearts, albeit with copious groans, Al Gore-style sighs and strenuous eye-rolls. (In similar fashion, they tolerate my love of the Coupling comedy series: OK, I confess, I'm an anglophile.) Anyway, I wondered if there had been an episode of Dr. Who in which astrology played a part, and sure enough there was; namely, The Masque of Mandragora, originally broadcast back in 1976. The astrologer in this episode, one Hieronymous, is a bit of a villain!
