MAY 22, 2006 - Wikipedia Chinese Astrology is as good a brief primer on Chinese astrology as I've ever seen. It's a system that's fundamentally different from western astrology, more attuned to the constellations and the lunar cycle - and that's just for starters. The Chinese celestial coordinate system is more akin to the polar/equatorial system of modern astronomy than the ecliptic coordinates of classical western astrology. And there's vastly more to it than just the animal sign associated with the year of your birth - which is about all most westerners know about Chinese astrology. As good as it is, Wikipedia Chinese Astrology just scratches the surface. Even so, I can't think of a better place to start an acquaintance with this fascinating celestial perspective.
