Website Of the Week Award ©2004 by Richard Nolle |
SEP 13, 2004 - PlanetQuest is a timely site to visit now, and a resource that's bound to be worthwhile in future. It's the NASA/JPL website devoted to the search for extrasolar planets - those in other solar systems. As the nifty little counter on the home page shows, there are currently 127 of these distant worlds discovered to date. But the total is now beginning to change almost weekly, as more and more of these faraway planets are identified through a variety of technical means. While planets down into the Neptune size range are the smallest detected so far, the day is fast approaching when we'll have our sights set on an Earth-like world orbiting a distant star. What wonders there are in the skies all around us!
