APR 14, 2003 - Ptolemy The Man was indeed The Man in astrology for hundreds and hundreds of years, and this little website in his honor is a fine introduction to the old fellow. Aside from his astrological treatise (the Tetrabiblos), Ptolemy also codified the astronomical and geographical state of the art in his day - which, incidentally, was sometime in the Second Century CE (Common Era, aka AD). Understanding that he knew the Earth was spherical, and that his system of epicycles was probably only a calculation device (rather than a physical model of the Universe), you might get the notion that old Ptolemy may have something of value to communicate despite his antiquity. Follow up on Ptolemy The Man, and see what you think.
