JUN 17, 2002 - Kook-Watch.net is a handy antidote for some of the wackiest denizens to be found in the newsgroups lurking down in the catacombs of the Internet. In fairness, it should be admitted from the start that one person's kook is another's genius. As the Carl Sagan quote at Kook-Watch.net notes, "But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses . . . they laughed at the Wright Brothers . . . they also laughed at Bozo the Clown." Knowing how to tell one from the other isn't all that hard, however. Just run down the "What is a kook?" list prepared by Michael Davis, and you'll have no problem evaluating the usual (and way-out) bunch of suspects. On the other hand, you may be some kind of kook yourself if you score too high on the "You May Be A Saucer Nut If" profile. Worse things could happen - and this site has links to lots of 'em. Educational, funny and a bit over the top - in keeping with nature of the subjects.
