DEC 31, 2001 - Moon Phases is a crystal-clear and simple Java applet written by Chris Dolan at the University of Wisconsin Astronomy Department. What it does is to show you the how and why of lunar phases. Of course, this being a Java applet, your system must be Java capable and enabled - otherwise you'll see nothing. But given the proper setup, you'll be treated to an animated loop of lunar phases from your choice of three perspectives, showing what the Moon looks like in the sky - and why.
Technical note: Web Site Garage rates Moon Phases excellent over-all and in load time (2.00 seconds with a 56k modem). In comparison, the page you're now reading rates good in both categories, with a load time of 7.61 seconds at 56k.
