AUG 27, 2001 - I, Cringely typically has only one thing to do with astrology, and that's computers. I've been doing astrology since the days of slide rules and log tables back in the 1960s, although I confess I was then a rather precocious teenager and it was the late 60s at that. And I remember how programmable calculators in the 70s seemed electrifyingly fast - until I got my first PC in the 1980s. That's what really changed astrology, the personal computer. And that's where Robert X. Cringely excels: keeping his readers abreast of the latest in computer technology. In a very personal and personable way, I might add; imbued with a certain wit and droll sense of fascination that gets downright addictive. Which is how I, Cringely ended up on my recommended list.
