FEB 8, 1999 - Stargazers to Starships is NASA's gift to anyone seeking a primer on astronomy. Amply illustrated, and written in plain and simple high school level language well suited for the average American adult (i.e. with eighth grade reading skills), this site explains the astronomy of Earth's motion in space as clearly as it can be done. Here you'll get the facts on such essential astrological (and astronomical) concepts as the celestial sphere, the ecliptic (which is to say the zodiacal circle), and precession. Of course, because the author has no background in astrology, he makes a couple of common mistakes in attempting to address the subject. For example, he confuses signs with constellations, and asserts that astrologers "believe that stars mysteriously direct our lives." (C'mon NASA, get a concept!) So some of what you'll find here has to be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. But the astronomy at least is solid, clear and simple - and very highly recommended.
Technically speaking, Web Site Garage rates Stargazers to Starships good over-all and in load time (10.92 seconds at 28.8k). By comparison, the page you're now reading also rates good in both categories, with a load time of 10.42 seconds at 28.8k.
