JUL 20, 1998 - Aboriginal Star Knowledge introduces the astrology and astronomy of American Indians - most especially the Lakota. Here you'll find a table outlining the constellational system of the Lakota, with correspondences to the familiar stars and constellations of the Western (European) system. And there's a nicely illustrated explanation of the astronomy underlying the Lakota system, as well. (Where we learn that the Lakota "Dried Willow" constellation comprises Aries and part of Triangulum as defined by modern astronomy, for example.) I did find a few broken links at Aboriginal Star Knowledge, but there's enough on-site to keep a curious visitor exploring and learning for a very long time . . . and perhaps wondering at how the Lakota cosmic vision might illuminate that of Western tradition.
