DEC 22, 1997 - The Peoria Astronomical Society left Peoria behind when they went onto the World Wide Web. Now they belong to the cosmos, and they're busy showing you around the place. And they're doing it in style too, with a well designed website that could be an attraction in its own right if it weren't for the quality and quantity of the information provided there. Drop by and see if you aren't as impressed as I was with the way this site exposes astronomy for the wonder it truly is. Read the article on the solstice, for example - although how that one managed to escape using the "A-word" (astrology) is beyond me. Steer clear of a cosmic scam by scanning the article on star names, while you're at it. Get lost in the wealth of information on the Astro Notes page: an astronomical pronunciation guide, an explanation of celestial coordinate systems, a guide to buying a telescope and an explanation of basic astronomical terms and concepts are just a few of the pearls you'll find in this particular treasure trove. And I haven't even touched on some of the other gems you'll find at the Peoria Astronomical Society website - like one of the best articles on black holes I've ever run across, or the just too much fun 3-D Virtual Reality star map. Definitely one of the very best astronomy sites it's ever been my pleasure to visit!
