JUN 30, 1997 - Zen Stories To Tell Your Neighbors is a perfect antidote to what ails you. If you're an astrologer, what likely ails you is too much charts, not enough real life. Click on the cure, my friend . . . there's not a story in the bunch that won't soothe the soul and quiet a restless spirit. Too often astrologers - and our clients - are overly concerned with the future, heedless of the now. There's a Zen story for that of course . . .

A Japanese warrior was captured by his enemies and thrown into prison. That night he was unable to sleep because he feared that the next day he would be interrogated, tortured, and executed. Then the words of his Zen master came to him, "Tomorrow is not real. It is an illusion. The only reality is now." Heeding these words, the warrior became peaceful and fell asleep.

Without much success I have attempted to present to my fellow astrologers the case for external spiritual disciplines - Zen being one, Tao being one, there being many others - as essential to harmonious living and harmonizing astrology. I surrender. Visit this site anyway, just for the fun of it. Read these little stories, these koans. Hear the one hand clapping perhaps . . . or maybe just read a little story. Who knows?
