MAY 2018 FORECAST ©2018 by Richard Nolle last revised April 28, 2018 |
If you were expecting some kind of sun sign nonsense, forget about it. This is real astrology for the real world, not some mystical mumbo-jumbo psycho-babble word salad. If it's real astrology for yourself that you want, you can get it by phone or in print. And if you need help deciphering the astrological glyphs in the graphics accompanying this article, see Astroglyphs: Astrological Symbols Guide. Please note: this forecast is expressed in terms of Universal Time (UT, aka GMT). Location for all mundane charts is set for the Great Pyramid at Giza; the choice being strictly arbitrary in any case. Also please be aware that, while I never change a forecast once it's published, I do post errata to acknowledge typographical errors and the like.
PLEASE NOTE: This month’s forecast incorporates elements of (and refers to) my complete 2018 World Forecast Highlights (41 8-1/2 x 11" illustrated pages); focused, amplified and elaborated with details for the month as appropriate. The full version of my 2018 World Forecast Highlights is available in hard copy by mail ($75) or as a PDF document by email ($50). A trio of consecutive Stealth (new moon) SuperMoons begins next month, and the last two of them are eclipses. While this promises a lot of geophysical drama for the summer, it’s not as if May is becalmed – especially around the middle and end of the month.
Meanwhile, the 2018 Mars Max cycle is gathering momentum from day one this month. It starts in the wake of the April 26 Mars-Pluto conjunction, which remains within a degree of exact through May 2; and spikes again with the May 16 Mars-Uranus square (in effect from the 7th through the 26th. Let’s begin at the beginning.
The current Mars Max cycle – the first one since 2016 - has been in effect since late March (see table below), but it’s gaining momentum more and more now. The peak in this cycle is still a couple months away, but this high cycle for "fires, crashes, clashes and explosions" is already gaining momentum.
2018 MARS MAX CYCLE
SUN-090-MARS MARS S-Rx SUN-180-MARS MARS S-D SUN-270-MARS MAR 24 JUN 26 JUL 27 AUG 27 DEC 3 SUN-090-MARS = Sun-Mars Waxing Square (Max begins)
MARS S-Rx = Retrograde Station (Retrograde Begins)
SUN-180- MARS = Sun-Mars Opposition (Mars Perigee)
MARS S-D = Direct Station (Retrograde Ends)
SUN 270 MARS = Sun-Mars Waning Square (Max ends)I won’t belabor the rationale behind Mars Max, since you can find it in full detail on pages 2-12 in the full version of my 2018 World Forecast Highlights. For now, suffice it to say that this is the cycle in which the Red Planet and Earth make their biennial close approach. Look back at previous Mars Max cycles, and you’ll see a sobering correlation with wars, massacres and big fires. Get ready.
One of the early Mars Max spikes is the April-May 2 Mars-Pluto conjunction. The usual surge in criminal violence ls on tap, and you’ve seen some of it already in the news if you’ve been paying attention. Subterfuge and sexual predation are part of this picture: offers you can’t refuse and manufactured pretenses for war are in the air. (No war yet, mind you – just the build-up.)
The Mars waning square to Uranus is relatively long-lasting, because the apparent motion of Mars is slowed down during a Marx Max. And Uranus never moves really quickly through the sky. The result is that the current configuration remains within a few degrees of exact from the 7th through the 26th.
When Mars and Uranus are in a slow-motion train wreck like this, things happen fast and from unexpected quarters: one shock after another, more or less. Electrical mishaps and outages, fires affecting infrastructure, accidents causing fires, wildfire due to lightning strikes, etc. Surprise attacks of one kind or another . . .
Dates of greatest Mars potential include the 6th (when the Moon aligns with Mars), the 12th through the 18th, and the 25th through the 28th.
As I mentioned earlier, I expect the middle and end of May to be the geophysical storm windows of the month, anchored by the new moon on the 15th and the full moon on the 29th. Figure on May 12-18 and May 26-June 1 as the windows of elevated risk for powerful storms with strong winds and heavy precipitation, plus a rash of moderate to severe earthquakes (M5 and up) and notable volcanic eruptions. The mid-month window looks like the more dangerous of the two, especially on the storm front.
Venus moves into an opposition with Saturn on the 26th, in a sign of panic in the markets. What sets it off? Wars and rumors of wars are certainly involved. And I don’t mean just military conflict, Mars Max notwithstanding. Worsening trade relations send more and more businesses and investors into retreat. This is not a financial apocalypse, mind you. Venus Max begins in August, after all; so better days lie ahead. Getting from here to there: that’s the trick.
All mundane astrological charts as well as eclipse and astro-locality maps are set for the Universal Time (UT) of the event, and calculated and produced using Esoteric Technologies’ Solar Fire Gold Version 7.0.8. Charts are set for the location of the Great Pyramid - a purely arbitrary choice, since location is irrelevant to these charts. Unless sotherwise noted, sky map images are screen captures from the Pocket Universe or Star Rover apps for iPhone, or produced by Starry Night for Windows; storm tracks are screen captures from The Weather Channel app for iPhone; and earthquake maps are screen captures from the QuakeFeed, QuakeWatch or QuakeZone apps for iPhone. Any market images are screen captures from the default iPhone Stocks app, unless otherwise noted. Weather images and storm tracks are screen captures from the Weather Channel app for iPhone.
