+--------------+----------+-----+---------+---------+ NOTES: BCE = Before Common Era (aka BC) CE = Common Era (aka AD) R = Retrograde |
All time and zodiacal position data are computer generated for the conjunctions of Venus and Saturn in geocentric ecliptic longitude (tropical zodiac) using Matrix's BLUE*STAR software, with nominal precision to the nearest minute of arc. NOTE: BLUE*STAR uses 0 (zero) for 1 BCE, and negative numbers for each year prior to that. Therefore 0 = 1 BCE, -1 = 2 BCE, etc.
Venus aligns in geocentric conjunction with Saturn once every 14 months or so, on average. Counting repeats due to Venus retrograding, there are 3,140 Venus-Saturn conjunctions in the 3,000 year period from 600 BBCE (aka BC) to 3,000 CE (aka AD). Only 122 of these conjunctions occur while Venus is retrograde. Venus-Saturn conjunctions with Saturn retrograde are an astronomical impossibility as seen from Earth, since Saturn can be retrograde only at or near its geocentric opposition to the Sun. Because Venus is never more than about 48 degrees from the Sun as seen from Earth, it cannot be in geocentric conjunction with a retrograde Saturn - since this would require Venus being at or near 180 degrees from the Sun.
